The busiest weeks of the year for the email channel drove engagement for retail

By Andrea Orvis, e-Dialog on Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Cyber Monday was once again a record-breaking day for U.S. online sales, with transactions totaling $1.46 billion according to comScore (+17% over 2011)1. We saw consistently high retail email volume – equal to Thanksgiving week. Email frequency tapered off with only 11% of clients sending five or more messages compared to 32% in Thanksgiving week. With so much email earlier than ever before, customers responded. Chase Paymentech2 data indicated a spike in transactions Sunday night as many brands started their Cyber Monday sales early. The email channel worked extremely hard given the increased volume during the two big shopping weeks. Cyber week click and open rates were up by more than 10% from Thanksgiving week and revenue per net delivered stayed strong.

We saw a number of clients see success sending pre-sale and preview campaigns starting Sunday instead of Cyber Monday. These campaigns had less competition in the inbox and drove the highest revenue per net delivered of the week.

Should Brands Use Pinterest?

By Christine Martino on Friday, July 6, 2012

I recently signed up to the social networking and virtual inspiration pinboard website, Pinterest, and it hasn’t taken me long to become addicted. I follow one image or idea to another and then another, and before I know it, it’s 2 a.m. and I still can’t stop. I have so many ideas, I can’t sleep! I love the visual format and the organization. I can create and share my own virtual pinboards (My Style, Organization Ideas, Products I Love) with images I pin, browse other pinboards, and repin images to my pinboards. It makes it so incredibly easy to record and expand my ideas, dreams, and interests.

Pinterest

As a busy working mom, I am a huge online shopper and since I also work at GSI, an ecommerce company, I wanted to understand if brands should use Pinterest. I sat down with Erik Harbison, VP of Social Media for True Action, GSI’s digital marketing agency, to learn more.

By Nicole Connell on Friday, March 9, 2012

GSI recently announced the expansion of the Martinsville fulfillment facility in Henry County, Virginia. The partnership with Henry County began in 2007 when we acquired the facility.

Both Henry County and GSI are excited about this continued relationship and the bright future it holds as the expansion will bring more than 60 jobs to the community. During an event held at the Henry County Administration Building, Jim Cheng, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade, expressed his appreciation for GSI’s ongoing support in Henry County and presented Mike Bomba, GSI vice president of fulfillment, with a check for $75,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to support the company’s recruitment and training activities. As a further sign of appreciation, Cheng also gave Bomba a state of Virginia flag to proudly fly outside the new facility.
